This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets CDH23 (cadherin-23), a calcium-dependent transmembrane adhesion glycoprotein expressed predominantly in the sensory hair cells of the inner ear and in retinal photoreceptor cells. CDH23 forms a core structural component of mechanosensitive tip-links in cochlear and vestibular hair bundles, where it pairs with protocadherin-15 to mediate mechanical transduction of sound and motion. Loss-of-function mutations in the CDH23 gene cause Usher syndrome type 1D and autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss (DFNB12), making this reagent useful for auditory neuroscience and ophthalmic research laboratories studying sensory transduction, hair bundle morphology, and photoreceptor maintenance.

Validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows, the reagent permits detection of endogenous cadherin-23 protein in human, mouse, and rat tissue samples. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum raised in rabbit, it is compatible with secondary antibody detection systems and standard chromogenic or fluorescence-based staining protocols used in cochlear tissue sectioning, tip-link protein localization studies, and retinal flat-mount preparations.

Routinely applied in investigations of hereditary deafness, hair cell regeneration, and retinitis pigmentosa-associated retinal degeneration, this rabbit polyclonal reagent supports research use only applications. Storage recommendations and buffer formulations should follow the manufacturer's specifications provided with the shipment.
