Built for auditory neuroscience and retinal biology research, this Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody targets cadherin-23 (CDH23), the giant calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein that forms the tip-link of inner ear hair cell stereocilia. The reagent is a rabbit IgG antibody suitable for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows, with confirmed reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting cross-species studies in hearing and balance.

CDH23 is a large transmembrane member of the cadherin superfamily whose extracellular cadherin repeats bind protocadherin-15 at the tip-link, gating the mechanotransduction channel required for sound perception. Loss-of-function mutations in CDH23 cause Usher syndrome type 1D (USH1D) and autosomal recessive non-syndromic deafness DFNB12, and altered expression has been reported in photoreceptor cells, making this antibody relevant to studies of combined deafness–blindness, hair bundle morphogenesis, vestibular dysfunction, and the molecular pathology of the cadherin-23/protocadherin-15 complex.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG in a single-use vial format, the product is compatible with standard chromogenic or fluorescence detection in immunohistochemistry and with chemiluminescent Western blot development. Polyclonal host origin and unconjugated formulation give laboratories flexibility to pair the reagent with their own secondary antibodies and detection chemistries for translational work across model systems.
