Cadherin-12 (BR-cadherin) is a type II classical cadherin that mediates calcium-dependent homophilic adhesion between neurons. The mature human protein (UniProt P55289) spans 794 amino acids, runs as an ~88 kDa band on SDS-PAGE, and is expressed predominantly in the brain, where its temporal pattern points to a role during synaptogenesis and neuronal development.
