This polyclonal reagent targets the tetraspanin family member CD9, a small cell surface glycoprotein widely used as a marker for exosomes and extracellular vesicles in research. Produced in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl vial at 1 mg/ml, the antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with secondary detection reagents, and the antibody is prepared in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a stabilizer. Short-term storage at 4 °C is appropriate for routine use, while aliquoting and freezing at -20 °C protects against repeated freeze-thaw cycles and extends shelf life. Because CD9 participates in cell adhesion, membrane fusion, and vesicle biogenesis, this reagent supports studies in tumor biology, reproductive biology, hematology, and immunology, where researchers examine exosome cargo, platelet activation, and lymphocyte signaling pathways.

For Western blot, the antibody recognizes CD9 at the expected low molecular weight band, and for IHC it can be applied to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections to map CD9 distribution across epithelial, endothelial, and immune cell populations. Researchers characterizing small extracellular vesicles frequently combine this reagent with other tetraspanin markers such as CD63 and CD81 to confirm exosome identity in conditioned media and vesicle preparations.
