Targeting the transferrin receptor (TfR1), this mouse monoclonal reagent from Antibodies.com (clone 5C9) detects CD71 in Western Blot workflows. CD71 is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates cellular iron uptake via transferrin binding, and it is widely used as a marker of rapidly dividing cells and erythroid precursors in hematopoiesis and iron metabolism research.
The unconjugated primary antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.3, packaged in a 100 µl vial. Reactivity spans human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative studies across these three species. The unconjugated format leaves the choice of secondary label open for varied detection chemistries.
Aliquoting the antibody solution is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the reagent, preserving binding performance across experiments. As a monoclonal reagent, clone 5C9 provides reproducible performance from lot to lot.
