Raised in rabbit against the CD68 lysosomal-associated membrane glycoprotein, this polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 50 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide, pH approximately 7.3.

CD68 (also known as macrosialin and LAMP-4) is a heavily glycosylated ~110 kDa transmembrane protein enriched in late endosomes and lysosomes of cells belonging to the monocyte and macrophage lineage, including circulating monocytes, tissue-resident macrophages, Kupffer cells of the liver, microglia in the central nervous system, osteoclasts, and certain dendritic cell populations. Because of this restricted expression pattern, it is one of the most widely used pan-macrophage markers in inflammation, immunology, neurobiology, atherosclerosis, and tumor-associated macrophage research.

This unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous CD68 in human, mouse, and rat samples. Aliquot upon receipt and store refrigerated to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can degrade polyclonal antibody activity over time.
