Raised in rabbit against human CD68, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.3, ready to load directly onto western blot membranes without further dilution. CD68 is a lysosome-associated transmembrane glycoprotein expressed predominantly by cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage, where it serves as a histological and biochemical marker for tissue-resident macrophages, Kupffer cells, microglia, and osteoclasts, and it also appears on activated neutrophils and certain dendritic cell subsets.

Because the immunogen sequence is conserved across species, the antibody detects the human, mouse, and rat orthologs of CD68, supporting cross-species work in rodent inflammation models, neuroinflammation studies, and human biopsy screening. In western blot applications it typically labels a band near the expected molecular weight of the mature protein (often reported close to 110 kDa, with the unglycosylated precursor closer to 37 kDa), which can appear as a broad, diffuse signal depending on glycosylation state and sample preparation.

Storage guidance from Antibodies.com calls for keeping the vial refrigerated for short-term use; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C to preserve activity and minimize loss from repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Sodium azide at 0.05% is included as a preservative, so take appropriate care if the reagent will be used in live-cell work or other azide-sensitive downstream applications.
