CD68 is a heavily glycosylated lysosome-associated transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a canonical marker of the monocyte and macrophage lineage. Antibodies.com provides a rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent raised against this antigen, supplied as 50 µl of unconjugated antiserum and validated for Western Blot detection across Human and Mouse samples.
Because CD68 is strongly expressed in tissue-resident macrophages, Kupffer cells, microglia, and monocyte-derived dendritic cells, laboratories use this reagent to probe cell and tissue lysates in inflammation models, tumor microenvironment studies, atherosclerotic plaque analysis, and neurodegeneration research. The unconjugated format gives end users the flexibility to couple the antibody to HRP, biotin, or a fluorophore of their choosing for chemiluminescent or fluorescent Western Blot readouts.
For optimal preservation, store the vial at -20 °C in small working aliquots, which limits freeze-thaw cycles and maintains antibody activity across repeated experiments.
