This unconjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes human CD59, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell-surface glycoprotein that restricts complement-mediated lysis by blocking assembly of the membrane attack complex. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of liquid and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human samples.

CD59, also called protectin or MIRL, is broadly expressed on hematopoietic, endothelial, and epithelial cells. Deficiency of GPI-anchored CD59 due to PIGA mutation drives paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, and altered expression is studied in autoimmune hemolysis, tumor immune evasion, and ischemia-reperfusion injury models. Investigators use this clone to track complement regulatory pathways, compare membrane-bound versus soluble CD59 pools, and assess glycoprotein shedding in disease.

In western blot, the antibody detects the ~18–25 kDa CD59 band under standard reducing conditions. For immunohistochemistry, it is suited to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections with HRP-based chromogenic detection. Recommended handling includes refrigerated short-term storage for working stocks, with aliquoting and freezing at -20°C for long-term use to limit freeze-thaw degradation of the unconjugated antibody.
