Raised in rabbit against the CD55 complement regulatory protein, this polyclonal antibody recognizes the K142 epitope and is intended for immunohistochemistry on human tissue sections. CD55, also called decay-accelerating factor (DAF), is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that limits complement activation by accelerating the decay of C3 and C5 convertases, thereby protecting host cells from autologous complement attack. The reagent is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is provided as a 100 µl aliquot suitable for multiple staining experiments. Researchers use this preparation to map DAF distribution across normal and diseased human tissues, supporting studies of complement-related pathology, graft rejection, autoimmune disease, and certain malignancies in which CD55 expression is altered. Provided by Antibodies.com as a polyclonal primary antibody reactive with human antigen for IHC workflows.
