CD53 is a member of the tetraspanin (TM4SF) superfamily of cell-surface glycoproteins, broadly expressed across the immune system on B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, natural killer cells, monocytes, granulocytes, and dendritic cells. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and targets an intracellular region of the CD53 antigen, supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum. The antibody is validated for Western blot and ELISA applications and shows reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative immunology work across model organisms.

Functionally, CD53 participates in the organization of tetraspanin-enriched microdomains on the plasma membrane, contributes to immune cell signaling, and modulates cell-cell adhesion in leukocytes. It has been studied in the context of B-cell receptor signaling, T-cell co-stimulation, NK-cell activity, and lymphocyte development. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the target protein, which helps in cases where species-specific sequence variation or post-translational modifications might limit single-epitope detection. The reagent is well suited for blotting experiments on immune cell line lysates or primary hematopoietic samples.
