CD42c (also known as GP1BB) is the approximately 26 kDa platelet glycoprotein Ib beta chain, a single-pass transmembrane component of the GPIb-IX-V receptor complex expressed on megakaryocytes and platelets. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG, supplied by Antibodies.com at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, is validated for Western blot on human, mouse, and rat samples. The 100 µl vial format provides enough reagent for multiple membrane probing experiments, and the polyclonal nature of the reagent allows recognition of multiple epitopes across the GP1BB cytoplasmic and extracellular regions. It is well suited to studies of von Willebrand factor binding, shear-dependent platelet adhesion, thrombopoiesis, and Bernard-Soulier syndrome models where GPIb-IX-V assembly is disrupted. Store refrigerated; the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant permits brief handling at room temperature during pipetting, and aliquoting upon first use is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the working stock.
