This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against CD31, also known as PECAM-1 (Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule-1), a ~130 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein widely used as a marker for vascular endothelium. Supplied as an unconjugated reagent at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the antibody is packaged in a 100 µl vial suitable for multiple western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments on human samples.

CD31 is strongly expressed at endothelial cell junctions and on platelets, monocytes, granulocytes, and a subset of lymphocytes, where it mediates leukocyte transendothelial migration and integrin signaling. Researchers use anti-CD31 antibodies to assess microvessel density in tumor sections, characterize angiogenesis in wound healing and cardiovascular disease models, and distinguish vascular tumors such as angiosarcoma and Kaposi sarcoma from non-vascular mimics in IHC.

Validated for WB and IHC on human tissue, this polyclonal reagent recognizes multiple epitopes of the PECAM-1 extracellular region, providing robust detection in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections and standard immunoblot workflows. Store the vial refrigerated and protect from light; the sodium azide preservative inhibits microbial growth while keeping the antibody stable for routine laboratory use.
