Raised in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this antibody recognizes the human CD1A antigen, a roughly 49 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein of the CD1 family that presents self and foreign lipid antigens to T cells. The product is provided at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl vial, ready for dilution into Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows performed on human tissue. CD1A expression is most prominent on cortical thymocytes, on Langerhans cells in the epidermis, and on certain dendritic cell populations, which makes this reagent relevant to studies of lipid antigen presentation and to pathology laboratories that use it as a diagnostic marker for Langerhans cell histiocytosis. For short-term use, keep the vial refrigerated; the high glycerol content of the formulation also allows the antibody to be aliquoted and frozen for longer-term storage without significant loss of binding activity. Researchers should titrate the antibody for each application, following standard immunostaining or blotting protocols, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working aliquots.
