Raised in rabbits and affinity-purified against the CD166 antigen (also known as ALCAM, Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule), this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µL of antiserum and is validated for Western blot and ELISA workflows. CD166 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that mediates homophilic ALCAM–ALCAM binding and heterophilic adhesion with CD6 on T lymphocytes. The target is widely expressed across human, mouse, and rat tissues, where it has been linked to leukocyte transendothelial migration, neurite outgrowth, and hematopoietic stem-cell maintenance, and it is frequently overexpressed on melanoma, breast, prostate, and colorectal tumour cells, where it serves as a marker of tumour-initiating populations.

With reactivity confirmed for human, mouse, and rat samples, the antiserum is well matched to immunoblotting of whole-cell and tissue lysates as well as standard ELISA endpoints. For long-term stability, aliquot the antibody upon receipt, store frozen at –20 °C, and protect from light; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. Because the reagent is supplied unconjugated, it can be paired with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies of the user's choice for immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, or co-immunoprecipitation studies of this clinically relevant adhesion molecule, and each vial of the 100 µL pack is intended for research use only.
