From Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody is raised against CCK (cholecystokinin) and supplied unconjugated. It is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications and reacts with Human, Mouse and Rat samples. The antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 21-70 of Human CCK, and CCK (V46) pAb detects endogenous levels of CCK protein.

The product is formulated at 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2. The target has a reported molecular weight of ~13 kDa. The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using the epitope-specific immunogen, with a stated purity of > 95% by SDS-PAGE.

CCK is described as a 115 amino acid secreted protein belonging to the gastrin/cholecystokinin family. It has been shown to stimulate the growth of pancreatic cancer, and as a peptide hormone it induces gallbladder contraction and the release of pancreatic enzymes in the gut. Binding of CCK to CCK-A receptors stimulates amylase release from the pancreas, while binding to CCK-B receptors stimulates gastric acid secretion. The CCK precursor is cleaved by proteases to produce several active cholecystokinins, including CCK58, CCK58 desnonopeptide, CCK39, CCK33, CCK25, CCK18, CCK12, CCK8, CCK7 and CCK5.
