Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal IgG reagent and supplied by Antibodies.com, this unconjugated antibody targets Chromobox protein homolog 8 (CBX8), a chromodomain-containing subunit of Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 (PRC1). CBX8 contributes to recognition of trimethylated histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27me3) and is implicated in X-chromosome inactivation, developmental gene silencing, and oncogenic programs including MLL-AF9 leukemia and hormone-driven breast cancer. The reagent is provided as 100 µl of liquid and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.

The antibody recognizes the human, mouse, and rat orthologs of CBX8, supporting cross-species studies of PRC1-dependent chromatin regulation. Because the polyclonal format detects multiple epitopes across the chromodomain and C-terminal regions of CBX8, it is useful when probing endogenous protein in chromatin-enriched fractions, nuclear lysates, or formalin-fixed tissue sections. For western blot detection, samples should be solubilized under reducing conditions, separated by SDS-PAGE, and transferred to PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes. For IHC staining, heat-induced antigen retrieval in citrate or EDTA buffer is recommended to unmask nuclear epitopes in fixed tissue.

The unconjugated format allows the reagent to be paired with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies chosen by the end user. For handling, the 100 µl volume should be divided into single-use aliquots and stored frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve IgG reactivity over time. Research use only.
