This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes Carbonyl Reductase 1 (CBR1), a cytosolic NADPH-dependent oxidoreductase of the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR) superfamily. CBR1 migrates as an approximately 30 kDa monomer and catalyzes the reduction of a broad spectrum of endogenous and xenobiotic carbonyl substrates, including prostaglandins, lipid peroxidation-derived aldehydes, and carbonyl-bearing drugs such as doxorubicin, naltrexone, and ketoprofen. The enzyme contributes to cellular redox homeostasis, xenobiotic detoxification, and the cellular response to oxidative stress.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a single-use vial. It has been validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) and shows reactivity on Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. The unconjugated format lets researchers pair the antibody with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies according to their detection platform.

Common research uses include mapping CBR1 tissue distribution in normal versus tumor specimens, probing the contribution of carbonyl reduction to chemoresistance against carbonyl-bearing chemotherapeutics in cell culture models, and characterizing prostaglandin and lipid-aldehyde metabolism in oxidative-stress signaling. Store working aliquots at -20 °C in the supplied glycerol buffer to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light when downstream detection uses fluorescent conjugates.
