Caveolin-1 is a 22 kDa integral membrane protein that forms the structural scaffold of caveolae, the flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane rich in cholesterol and sphingolipids. Antibodies.com supplies this unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody (100 µl format) for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows on human samples.

Widely expressed in endothelial cells, fibroblasts, adipocytes, vascular smooth muscle, and many epithelial lineages, Caveolin-1 organizes caveolar microdomains, supports clathrin-independent endocytosis, and scaffolds signaling components including Src-family kinases, heterotrimeric G-protein subunits, and endothelial nitric oxide synthase. Investigators apply this reagent to study lipid raft biology, receptor trafficking, mechanotransduction, and the dual roles of caveolae in cancer, cardiovascular pathology, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and metabolic disease.

Because the antiserum is polyclonal, raised in rabbit, and unconjugated, it offers broad, multi-epitope recognition of native Caveolin-1 and can be paired flexibly with anti-rabbit secondaries, custom fluorophore conjugations, or chromogenic detection chemistries. The host species and clonality are particularly useful for multi-label immunofluorescence co-localization experiments alongside primary antibodies raised in mouse, goat, or chicken.
