Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is the ~22 kDa scaffolding protein that forms the structural backbone of caveolae, flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane involved in lipid raft signaling, endocytosis, and mechanotransduction. Tyrosine 14 (Y14) is its principal regulatory phosphorylation site, modified by Src family kinases and by mechanical or growth-factor cues that drive caveolae internalization, cell migration, and angiogenesis. The Y14-phosphorylated form of CAV1 is therefore widely used as a marker of caveolar activation across cell biology, cancer research, and vascular biology studies.

This rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 200 µl aliquot in unconjugated format and selectively recognizes CAV1 only when phosphorylated at Y14. It is validated for western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) applications on human, mouse, and rat samples and works with standard lysis buffers supplemented with phosphatase inhibitors to preserve the labile phospho-Y14 epitope during sample preparation.

Polyclonal clonality allows recognition of multiple epitopes surrounding the phospho-Y14 site, which improves detection robustness when the modification state of CAV1 is the experimental variable. Recommended handling follows standard phospho-specific antibody practice: short-term refrigerated storage at 4 °C and longer-term storage at -20 °C in aliquots sized to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
