Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is the principal structural protein of caveolae, the cholesterol-rich microdomains of the plasma membrane that serve as platforms for receptor signaling, lipid trafficking, endocytosis, and mechanotransduction. This unconjugated rabbit monoclonal antibody, supplied by Antibodies.com as a 50 µL aliquot in IgG format, specifically detects human CAV1 and is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows. The reagent recognizes the ~22 kDa mature caveolin-1 polypeptide and is widely used as a marker for caveolar membranes in studies of cancer cell migration, vascular biology, and metabolic regulation. Researchers employ it to map subcellular localization of caveolae, probe caveolin-dependent signaling pathways such as EGFR and TGF-β, and examine altered CAV1 expression in tumor stromal compartments. As an unconjugated primary antibody, it is compatible with a broad choice of user-selected secondary detection reagents, fluorescent dyes, and enzyme conjugates, and it tolerates routine aliquoting and freeze-thaw handling when stored refrigerated between uses.
