This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets Cathepsin E (CTSE), an aspartic endopeptidase that localizes to endosomal and lysosomal compartments in immune cells and selected epithelial tissues. CTSE contributes to antigen processing within the MHC class II presentation pathway and has been investigated in gastric mucosa, lymphoid organs, microglia, and several tumor-derived cell lines, where it influences extracellular matrix remodeling and protein turnover at acidic pH.

Each vial from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide (pH 7.2), as a 100 µl unconjugated liquid that pairs cleanly with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents. The reagent is validated for Western blot analysis of CTSE in human, mouse, and rat samples and for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, supporting visualization of CTSE distribution across gastrointestinal, lymphoid, and neural tissues.

Short term storage at refrigerator temperature is recommended; aliquoting and freezing at -20 °C preserves antibody activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles and supports longer term use. Researchers commonly deploy this reagent in inflammatory disease models, tumor biology studies, and investigations of microglial activation, where shifts in CTSE levels serve as an indicator of altered lysosomal proteolytic activity in vitro and in vivo.
