This polyclonal antibody targets Catenin-γ (also known as plakoglobin or junction plakoglobin, encoded by the JUP gene), a cytoplasmic component of both desmosomal plaques and adherens junctions. Plakoglobin links classical cadherins to the underlying cytoskeleton and supports intercellular adhesion in epithelial sheets, cardiac intercalated discs, and several tumour contexts.

Supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the 100 µl volume provides enough material for multiple Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence runs. Validated application areas cover Western blot (WB) on whole-cell and tissue lysates, immunohistochemistry (IHC) on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, and immunofluorescence (IF) on cultured cells or frozen sections. Reactivity is confirmed with human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work across standard laboratory models.

Common research applications include mapping desmosome assembly in keratinocytes, monitoring cardiomyocyte intercalated-disc integrity in models of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and Naxos disease, examining Wnt signalling crosstalk, and characterising plakoglobin redistribution in cancer cell lines. The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes along the ~82 kDa plakoglobin polypeptide, increasing tolerance to minor denaturation and giving robust signal under both denaturing and native conditions.

Storage: keep the vial refrigerated at 4 °C for short-term use (up to two weeks); for longer-term storage, freeze at -20 °C in working aliquots and limit freeze-thaw cycles that degrade the antibody. Centrifuge briefly before opening to recover the full volume from the cap.
