This polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets caspase 9, the initiator cysteine protease that activates the mitochondrial (intrinsic) apoptosis cascade downstream of cytochrome c release and APAF1 oligomerization. Raised in rabbit against the G140 epitope, the unconjugated reagent is supplied as a 50 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, ready to dilute directly into Western blot workflows. The antibody is validated for detection across human, mouse, and rat samples and recognizes both the ~46 kDa full-length procaspase zymogen and the cleaved p37/p35 fragments generated during apoptosome-driven autocatalytic processing, making it useful for monitoring activation status as well as total protein levels. Its unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents depending on experimental design, and the polyclonal profile increases the likelihood of detecting multiple caspase 9 isoforms or post-translational variants within a single blot, supporting research into programmed cell death, chemotherapeutic response, and mitochondrial signaling pathways.
