This Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent targets Caspase-8, an apical initiator caspase that contains tandem death effector domains and drives the extrinsic apoptosis pathway through recruitment to death-inducing signaling complexes (DISCs) downstream of TNF-family death receptors. The antibody recognizes both the full-length approximately 55 kDa procaspase-8 zymogen and its cleaved subunits generated during receptor-mediated apoptosis, supporting studies of programmed cell death, necroptosis crosstalk, and inflammation-driven caspase signaling. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent is suited to Western blot analysis of cell and tissue lysates, immunohistochemistry on paraformaldehyde-fixed sections to map receptor-proximal caspase activation, and ELISA-based quantification workflows. Cross-reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples enables comparative work across model systems used in oncology, neurodegeneration, and immunology research. For handling, store at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody titer over time.
