Caspase 14 is a cysteine-aspartic protease whose activation produces a smaller p10 cleavage fragment during the terminal differentiation program of keratinocytes and the formation of the cornified cell envelope in the epidermis. The Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent was raised against this p10 fragment and detects the cleaved subunit in human, mouse, and rat samples in western blot workflows.

The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of unconjugated whole antiserum at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. It is provided in a single-use-friendly vial format, and downstream conjugation with HRP, biotin, or a fluorescent dye is straightforward because the reagent is unconjugated. Pair with a rabbit-IgG-compatible secondary for chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection of the p10 band on nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes.

Short-term storage at 4 °C is appropriate for working aliquots; longer-term storage should be at -20 °C in frozen aliquots to limit freeze-thaw damage to the antibody. The 0.05% sodium azide protects against microbial growth but should be removed by dialysis or a desalting column if downstream enzymatic reactions are azide-sensitive.
