This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets Caspase-6 (CASP6), a cysteine-aspartic protease classified as an executioner caspase within the intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic cascades. Caspase-6 cleaves a defined subset of cellular substrates including amyloid precursor protein (APP), huntingtin, and several structural proteins, distinguishing it functionally from executioner caspases 3 and 7. Supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl vial, the antibody is raised in rabbit and validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.
The reagent addresses research into programmed cell death, neurodegeneration, and CASP6 biology in models of Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease. Recognition covers both full-length pro-Caspase-6 and the processed subunits that accumulate during apoptotic signaling, supporting detection of zymogen activation in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections. Compatibility extends to standard immunoblotting and chromogenic IHC protocols on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens. For research use only.
