Description

A polyclonal antibody offered by Antibodies.com, raised in rabbit, and directed against Casein Kinase Iδ. The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blotting (WB) and has been shown to react with Human, Mouse and Rat samples.

The reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2. It was generated against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 334–379 of human Casein Kinase Iδ and detects endogenous levels of the Casein Kinase Iδ protein. The antibody has been affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using the epitope-specific immunogen and migrates at approximately 47 kDa, with purity greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE.

Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) compose a family of serine/threonine protein kinases present in all eukaryotes examined to date. CKI family members, which include CKIα, γ, ε and δ, have been implicated in the control of cytoplasmic and nuclear processes, including DNA replication and repair. CKII is usually expressed as a tetrameric complex consisting of either an α2β2 or an αα'β2 structure; the α catalytic subunit is stimulated by the β regulatory subunit, which undergoes autophosphorylation, and CKII is known to phosphorylate more than 100 different substrates, including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors and enzymes involved in DNA metabolism.
