Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified against a recombinant human CAPN1 immunogen, this polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1.0 mg/mL in a 50 µL volume and is intended for the detection of endogenous total calpain-1 (CAPN1) protein. The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry (WB, IHC) applications and has been confirmed to react with human, mouse, and rat samples, making it suitable for cross-species studies of calcium-activated neutral cysteine protease signaling. The product is formulated in phosphate-buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺) at pH 7.4, containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. For routine use the vial should be shipped cool at 4 °C, then upon receipt aliquoted and stored at –20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze/thaw cycles to preserve activity. As a polyclonal reagent, the antiserum recognizes multiple epitopes across the CAPN1 catalytic subunit (also known as µCANP, CANPL1, or calpain-1 large subunit), which can be helpful when probing for full-length versus processed forms of the protease in cell lysates and tissue sections. The unconjugated format leaves the antibody compatible with downstream secondary detection chemistries of the researcher's choice, including HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG. For research use only.
