Calpain-1 (CAPN1) is the large catalytic subunit of mu-calpain, a calcium-activated, neutral cysteine protease that mediates limited proteolysis of cytoskeletal, membrane, and signaling substrates. The Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against this protein is supplied unconjugated as a 100 µL aliquot and has been validated for Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry across human, mouse, and rat samples.

The polyclonal format enables recognition of multiple epitopes on the ~82 kDa CAPN1 polypeptide, which is useful when probing proteolytic fragments, comparing expression across tissues, or studying altered calpain activity in disease models. Research areas that depend on anti-CAPN1 detection include neurodegeneration, cataractogenesis, muscular dystrophy, and tumor cell invasion, where investigators track abundance and subcellular localization of the protease.

Storage at -20°C in working aliquots limits freeze-thaw exposure of the antibody, and the unconjugated format provides flexibility for downstream labeling with HRP, biotin, or fluorophores. Intended for laboratory research use only.
