Calpains are calcium-dependent, non-lysosomal cysteine proteases that regulate cytoskeletal remodeling, cell cycle progression, and signal transduction through limited proteolysis of specific substrates. CAPN1 (also known as µ-calpain) is the larger catalytic subunit of the calpain heterodimer and has been studied extensively in neurodegeneration, cataract formation, skeletal muscle physiology, and apoptosis pathways.
Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal reagent, this Antibodies.com antibody is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/mL in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µL vial. Validated applications include Western blot and immunohistochemistry, with confirmed reactivity against human, mouse, and rat CAPN1 to support cross-species experimental design in basic and translational research.
Store refrigerated and protect from light; aliquoting before freezing is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding performance across multiple experiments.
