Calnexin is a type I integral membrane chaperone of the endoplasmic reticulum that participates in the quality control of nascent glycoproteins and assists in calcium homeostasis within the ER lumen. This rabbit polyclonal reagent detects an endogenous band of roughly 90 kDa in Western blot workflows, providing a clear readout from the ER-resident pool of the protein. Researchers working on unfolded protein response signaling, ER-associated degradation, glycoprotein folding, and MHC class I assembly have used antibodies against this target to probe calnexin expression in cell and tissue models.

The unconjugated format keeps the reagent flexible for downstream labeling. The antibody binds calnexin of human and mouse origin, which makes it practical for comparative studies across cell lines and primary tissue samples. In immunohistochemistry, calnexin staining is often interpreted as an ER marker alongside other organelle controls, so this reagent serves a dual role of target-specific detection and subcellular localization verification on fixed sections.

Supplied by Antibodies.com, the product is offered as 100 µl of polyclonal serum in a single vial. It is used across Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications, with WB validation typically performed against the band near 90 kDa. The reagent is intended for research use only and has not been validated for diagnostic purposes.
