CaMKIIα (Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that mediates calcium-dependent signal transduction, synaptic plasticity, and memory formation in neurons, while also contributing to cardiac myocyte excitability and remodeling. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, packaged in a 100 µl volume.

The unconjugated antibody is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows, with established reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples. Because CaMKIIα is abundantly expressed in excitatory forebrain neurons, it is widely used by neuroscience groups to map kinase distribution across hippocampal and cortical tissue and to follow activity-dependent autophosphorylation events in long-term potentiation studies. Cardiac research groups also apply the antibody to interrogate CaMKII signaling in hypertrophy and arrhythmia models.

For handling, refrigerate the vial at 4 °C for short-term routine use, and aliquot before long-term storage at -20 °C or below to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The included 50% glycerol stabilizes the protein during frozen storage, while the 0.1% sodium azide inhibits microbial contamination during working use at the bench.
