Caldesmon is a widely used smooth-muscle differentiation marker, and this recombinant rabbit monoclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the protein for reproducible detection across multiple assay platforms. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody in a vial with TBS buffer (pH 7.4), 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide preservative, it is validated for western blot, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry, with confirmed reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples. In surgical pathology workflows, anti-Caldesmon staining helps distinguish smooth-muscle-derived lesions such as leiomyomas and leiomyosarcomas from myofibroblastic proliferations and other spindle-cell mimics, while in basic research it supports studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, vascular smooth-muscle physiology, and tumor cell invasion. The recombinant monoclonal format reduces lot-to-lot variability compared with traditional polyclonal reagents, and the BSA-stabilized glycerol formulation is compatible with refrigerated storage. Standard sodium-azide handling precautions apply after opening, and the unconjugated format allows direct conjugation to fluorophores or enzymes for custom assay development.
