Calbindin-D28k, encoded by the CALB1 gene, is a vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein expressed in specific neuronal subpopulations, including cerebellar Purkinje cells, as well as in distal renal tubules and select endocrine cells. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets CALB1 for use in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. The unconjugated IgG preparation is supplied at 100 µl, suitable for multi-experiment use when aliquoted and stored refrigerated. Researchers studying cerebellar circuitry, neurodegenerative disease models, and renal calcium handling commonly apply anti-Calbindin antibodies to map Purkinje cell loss, characterize GABAergic interneuron populations, and identify distal convoluted tubules in kidney sections.
