This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Cadherin-16, also called kidney-specific (Ksp) cadherin, a calcium-dependent transmembrane adhesion protein expressed almost exclusively on the basolateral surface of renal tubular epithelial cells. The antibody is raised in rabbit, purified as an unconjugated IgG fraction, and supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, in a 100 µl vial ready for direct dilution into blocking or incubation buffers.

Validated applications include Western blot, immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections, and immunofluorescence on cultured cells, with cross-reactivity demonstrated against human, mouse, and rat samples. Because Cadherin-16 marks the proximal and distal tubular epithelium, anti-Cadherin-16 antibodies are widely used in nephrology research to study tubular differentiation, polycystic kidney disease models, and renal cell carcinoma subtyping, where Ksp-cadherin positivity helps separate conventional clear-cell tumors from chromophobe and papillary lesions.

For handling, store the vial refrigerated at 4 degrees C and protect from light; aliquoting upon first thaw preserves activity across repeat freeze-thaw cycles. The included sodium azide safeguards against microbial contamination during routine bench use, but should be removed by dialysis or buffer exchange before any azide-sensitive conjugation, such as direct coupling to HRP or fluorophore labeling.
