This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets carbonic anhydrase 5A (CA5A), a mitochondrial zinc metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. The reagent was raised in rabbit hosts and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, at approximately pH 7.2. It is validated for western blot (WB) and immunocytochemistry (ICC) workflows and has been confirmed to react with human, mouse, and rat samples. CA5A is predominantly expressed in hepatocytes and renal tubular epithelium, where it supplies bicarbonate for carbamoyl phosphate synthetase I and thereby supports ureagenesis and acid-base balance, making this antibody useful for studies of hepatic and renal mitochondrial metabolism, hyperammonemia research, and characterization of carbonic anhydrase VA deficiency. Each vial delivers 100 µL of unconjugated antibody, compatible with fluorescent or enzymatic secondary detection systems. Short-term storage at 4°C is recommended; for longer intervals, aliquot and store frozen at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity.
