The Carbonic Anhydrase IV (CA4) protein is a GPI-anchored, membrane-bound zinc metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation in a 50 µl vial, ready for direct labeling or standard immunodetection workflows.

Validated for Western Blotting on human and murine samples, the antibody supports detection of endogenous CA4 expression in tissues such as kidney, pancreas, retina, and selected tumor-derived cell lines. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognizing multiple epitopes on the target, useful when probing denatured lysates or low-abundance samples where signal amplification is helpful.

Carbonic anhydrase family members have attracted interest in renal physiology, retinal biology (RP17 retinitis pigmentosa has been linked to CA4 mutations), and studies of the tumor microenvironment where pH regulation matters. Researchers investigating these areas can use this reagent to characterize expression patterns, validate knock-down or knock-out cell models, or screen compound libraries that target carbonic anhydrase activity.

For best results, keep the vial refrigerated for short-term use; aliquot and freeze at -20°C for longer-term storage, and protect from light to preserve antibody integrity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Optimal working dilutions should be determined empirically based on antigen abundance and the chosen detection chemistry.
