Carbonic anhydrase 2 (CA2) is a cytosolic zinc metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate, playing a central role in CO2 transport, acid-base homeostasis, and bone resorption by osteoclasts.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against CA2 and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows across human, mouse, and rat sample preparations. Supplied as 100 µl of ready-to-use antibody, it enables detection of the endogenous approximately 29 kDa CA2 protein in tissue lysates and fixed tissue sections.

Researchers commonly apply this reagent to investigate osteopetrosis-related CA2 mutations, renal tubular acidification, erythrocyte gas exchange studies, and tumor microenvironment pH regulation. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which can be advantageous when working with denatured samples for western blot or with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections for immunohistochemistry. Each lot is affinity purified to reduce nonspecific background.

For storage, aliquot the antibody into working volumes and store at -20 °C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and prolonged light exposure. For research use only.
