Carbonic anhydrase 14 (CA14) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored zinc metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and a proton. The Antibodies.com unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent targets the human and mouse CA14 protein for detection in Western blot (WB) workflows. Each vial is supplied as 100 µl of liquid antibody validated for Western blot application on lysates prepared from human and mouse samples. CA14 expression is concentrated in neuronal and select epithelial tissues, where it contributes to extracellular pH regulation, bicarbonate transport, and CO2 handling relevant to retinal photoreceptor function and central nervous system physiology. Because the reagent is unconjugated, it provides researchers flexibility in downstream detection, supporting choice of HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-labeled secondary antibodies. Storage conditions such as refrigeration should follow the recommendations printed on the lot-specific datasheet shipped with the vial, and the polyclonal IgG format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the CA14 target for robust signal in Western blot experiments.
