Anti-C1QBP Antibody

The immunogen-derived IgG fraction recognizes C1QBP, a roughly 32 kDa multifunctional protein also referred to as p32, HABP1, SF2p32, and gC1qR, which is most abundantly localized to the mitochondrial matrix and is additionally detected at the cell surface and in the nucleus depending on cell type and physiological state.

C1QBP supports mitochondrial ribosome assembly and contributes to oxidative phosphorylation through its role as a component of the small mitoribosomal subunit. It was originally described by its binding to the globular heads of complement C1q, linking it to classical pathway activation and to cellular uptake of C1q-opsonized targets. The protein has since been tied to apoptosis regulation, RNA splicing via its SF2-associated form, and adhesion signaling in lymphoid and tumor cells. Researchers therefore use antibodies against C1QBP to investigate mitochondrial function, innate immunity and inflammation, host-pathogen interactions in which bacterial and viral ligands exploit surface-exposed C1QBP, and oncology, where altered expression has been reported in several tumor types.
