The C1q subcomponent of complement is a 410 kDa hexameric assembly built from 18 polypeptides derived from three distinct gene products, C1QA, C1QB, and C1QC, whose chains wind together into six globular heads supported by collagen-like stalks. The C1QB-encoded B chain contributes directly to the structural integrity of those heads and to the binding interface that recognizes immunoglobulin Fc regions and apoptotic cell surfaces, triggering the classical complement cascade. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the human B chain and is supplied in a vial containing 100 µl of affinity-purified antiserum suitable for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human samples. Because C1QB expression is concentrated in hepatocytes and tissue-resident macrophages, the antibody is a practical tool for studying classical pathway activity in liver biopsy material, lymphoid tissue, and monocyte-derived macrophage models of inflammation and autoimmunity.
