This unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit against C18orf8 (chromosome 18 open reading frame 8), the outer mitochondrial-membrane protein also known as MiD51 or MIEF1 that recruits the GTPase Drp1 to drive mitochondrial fission. Supplied as a 200 µl liquid aliquot of IgG, the reagent is validated for Western blot detection of the human target in cell lysates and tissue extracts.

The antigen is a single-pass membrane anchor that forms higher-order oligomers gating Drp1 ring assembly on the mitochondrial surface, and researchers use Anti-C18orf8 Antibody to track stimulus-induced fragmentation, mitophagy coupling, and metabolic-state changes across human lines such as HEK293, HeLa, HepG2, and U2OS. Reactivity is restricted to the human orthologue, so rodent samples are not supported by this reagent. The unconjugated IgG format pairs with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit secondaries, supporting standard chemiluminescent or fluorescent immunoblotting workflows.

For short-term projects keep the vial refrigerated between uses; for longer studies, freeze small working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity. Because the polyclonal response targets multiple epitopes along the C18orf8 sequence, the reagent tolerates the partial denaturation that occurs during SDS-PAGE sample preparation and yields a robust band for the endogenous human protein on standard PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes.
