Basigin (BSG), also known as CD147 or EMMPRIN, is a transmembrane immunoglobulin superfamily glycoprotein that stimulates matrix metalloproteinase production and acts as a chaperone for monocarboxylate transporters such as MCT1 and MCT4. This unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl vial. Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples, the reagent enables studies of tumor invasion and metastasis, lactate transport regulation, and viral entry mechanisms where BSG functions as an attachment factor facilitating SARS-CoV-2 spike protein binding alongside ACE2. The polyclonal format provides broad epitope coverage of both basigin-1 and basigin-2 isoforms for reliable detection in multiple tissue types. Store the vial at -20 °C, protected from light, in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody binding activity.
