Anti-BSG Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal reagent targets human basigin (BSG), the immunoglobulin-superfamily transmembrane glycoprotein also known as CD147 and EMMPRIN, and is offered by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated primary antibody for research use. BSG functions on the plasma membrane as an inducer of extracellular matrix metalloproteinases and as a chaperone that traffics monocarboxylate transporters MCT1 and MCT4 to the cell surface, linking it to lactate flux, tumor invasion, and inflammatory signalling. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of affinity-purified antiserum raised in rabbit, validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples. Researchers use it to probe BSG expression in cultured cancer cell lines and in fixed tissue sections, where altered CD147 levels correlate with MMP activity, metastasis, and disease progression in carcinomas and gliomas.
