Basigin (BSG), also designated CD147 or EMMPRIN, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein implicated in extracellular matrix metalloproteinase induction, cell-cell adhesion, lymphocyte activation, and the entry of several pathogens into host cells, including Plasmodium falciparum in erythrocytes and certain coronaviruses. Raised in rabbit, this unconjugated IgG polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com recognises human BSG and is supplied as 100 µl of liquid, validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. The reagent is offered in a single-use aliquot format for staining fixed cells and tissue cryosections, and for probing membrane and cytoplasmic compartments in research use only applications. Because BSG is broadly expressed on epithelia, endothelial cells, and activated leukocytes, the reagent supports studies in cancer invasion, reproductive biology, neuroimmunology, and infectious disease research where basigin acts as a receptor or co-receptor. Aliquot upon receipt and store at -20°C in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light until use.
