Anti-Brn-3c Antibody

The polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets Brn-3c (POU4F3), a class IV POU-homeodomain transcription factor essential for the differentiation, maturation, and long-term survival of cochlear and vestibular hair cells in the mammalian inner ear. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the unconjugated reagent is validated for western blot detection of the endogenous protein in samples prepared from human, mouse, and rat tissue.

Brn-3c sits at the center of auditory neuroscience research because heterozygous mutations in the POU4F3 gene cause DFNA15, an autosomal dominant non-syndromic hearing loss, and the factor is also implicated in sensory hair cell regeneration studies and certain neuronal differentiation programs. Researchers therefore use this reagent to probe hair cell-enriched lysates from cochlear epithelium, to follow transcription factor expression during otic development, and to compare Brn-3c levels across wild-type and disease-model rodents.
