Raised in rabbit against human BRE, this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets a component of the BRCA1-A DNA damage response complex also referred to as BRCC45, BABAM2, and MERIT40. BRE is recruited to DNA double-strand break sites, where it stabilizes BRCA1 association with the complex and contributes to G2/M checkpoint signaling under genotoxic stress. Independent studies have linked the protein to anti-apoptotic activity and to modulation of base-excision repair through the RAP80-BRCA1 axis, making it a marker of interest in DNA repair biology and tumor cell survival research.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples. Standard Western blot workflows use RIPA lysates separated by SDS-PAGE, transferred to PVDF or nitrocellulose, and probed with the antibody followed by an HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary; chemiluminescent detection is appropriate for visualizing the endogenous BRE band. For immunohistochemistry, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections benefit from citrate- or Tris-based antigen retrieval before overnight primary incubation at 4 °C, with signal developed using DAB or a comparable chromogen. Published expression profiling places BRE in brain, testis, and several carcinoma-derived lines, supporting use of this reagent in studies of BRCA1 pathway function, checkpoint control, and cellular stress responses for research use only.
