5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) is a thymidine analog that is incorporated into newly replicated DNA during the S-phase of the cell cycle, serving as a widely used marker for cell proliferation studies. The unconjugated mouse monoclonal reagent from Antibodies.com selectively recognizes BrdU that has been integrated into nuclear DNA, supporting immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FC), and ELISA-based detection of actively dividing cells in fixed samples.
A critical step in the workflow is DNA denaturation—typically achieved with acid hydrolysis or DNase treatment—to expose the bromouridine epitopes embedded within the chromatin. This primary antibody is provided as a 100 µl aliquot at 0.5 mg/ml, lyophilized in PBS at pH 7.4 with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
