This Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody recognizes the type II bone morphogenetic protein receptor (BMPR2), a serine/threonine kinase within the TGF-beta receptor superfamily that transduces signals from BMP2, BMP4, BMP6, and BMP7. Loss-of-function BMPR2 variants are a well-studied feature of familial and idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension, making this reagent useful in vascular and pulmonary research, as well as in developmental studies of bone and cartilage formation.

Raised in rabbits and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the product is provided as a 100 µl vial suitable for multiple western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments. It has been validated on human, mouse, and rat samples. Western blot detection yields a band consistent with the receptor's predicted molecular weight of approximately 115 kDa, while immunohistochemistry is performed on paraffin-embedded tissue sections using standard antigen retrieval. For long-term use, store aliquots frozen, protect from light, and limit freeze-thaw cycles; the sodium azide preservative allows working dilutions to be kept refrigerated.
